TransformersRevengeOfTheFallen

TransformersRevengeOfTheFallen

I was amazed at the animation put into the first Transformers Movie and needless to say, i was looking forward to watching Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen with great expectation. It was the 11AM show at the HUB. I didnt watch the movie review on news channels on friday as i didnt want anything to dash my hopes of enjoying a 2:30 hour action extravaganza. I reached the station early and met up with another college friend. The two of us got into a rick and as we reached the movie spot we discussed our expectations from the movie. However as i had read on the VH1 channel ticker that Transformers-2 has a lot of errors in it, my friend also told me that the movie didnt go down too well with the critics. The facts were hard to digest but finally i cleared the clutter and emptied  my mind to absorb the movie that i had waited for.

The movie started of well with some brilliant action sequences between the Autobots & the Decepticons. The story was woven decently around Shia LaBeouf who discovers an “object of interest” moments before he leaves for his college, that turns the electronic gadgets in his kitchen into little menacing robots. Bee (Bumblebee) comes to his rescue and from there the movie kicks in as the Autobots find out that Megatron’s dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and is revived back to life with using the spark. Now Megatron is back to earth seeking revenge with more Decepticon reinforcements. The Autobots now realise they may have more to deal with than meets the eye. The movie continues with Sam (Shia LaBeouf), Mikayla (Megan Fox) and Sam’s roomie at college ( who has nothing to do in the movie than crib & cry at the sight of danger ) run for cover trying to find a way to defeat The Fallen. Optimus Prime dies while trying to protect Sam and later comes back to life thanks to another “object of interest” (much like a re-birth in Bollywood films). In fact, the action sequences had me notice more detailed kicks & grabs rather than the normal slam-bang-shooting with mechanical weaponry. However at times the action would get frustrating as it would get difficult to recognise who’s who among the bots. At the end, Optimus Prime finishes off The Fallen (much easily to my surprise) and Megatron flees from the scene (so now you know that a third Transformers movie is very likely to surface in the forthcoming years).

Overall, the movie made up for a decent watch with good visual affects(as the normal movie buff i didnt care about the errors) and a ho-hum storyline. The characters other than Sam and Lennox didnt have much to act about and if you are a first time Transformers movie goer, the movie can be confusing. The sequel definitely doesnt keep you engrossed but if you are a fan of Transformers, go ahead and watch it.
The musical score was good and one track i particularly liked was the credits beginning song “New Divide” by my all time favourite alternative rock band Linkin Park.

I would rate it at 2.5/5… ok  3/5 ( as i hope for a better Transformers movie in the future)
